I would like to thank all who helped make the 2008 San Diego Brewers Guild Festival a roaring success. Fortunately these are the same people who make our San Diego Beer Community so strong.
Thank you to the Home Brew Mart team who helps behind the scenes picking up the slack that I create by taking time to organizing the Festival. They also helped by providing Volunteers during the Fest. In the big picture, Home Brew Mart and the other Home Brewing Stores in San Diego should also be thanked for helping some of our local Brewers get started in making the beers we enjoy today.
Thank you to the Officers of the San Diego Brewers Guild. Vice President, Shawn DeWitt. Secretary, Neva Parker. Treasurer/Anchor Dave Moore. Guild Representatives Chuck Silva, Adam Carbonell and Matt Walsh. The Guild would not be as strong if it were not for these hard working Volunteers!
Thank you to the Brewery Members of the San Diego Brewers Guild. The cooperation of all the Breweries in San Diego continues to impress our peers and consumers worldwide. The credit for the success of this year's Festival is attributed to the quality products and teamwork produced making Beer in San Diego County. The VIP session was World Class. Thanks again to Gordon Biersch, San Diego Brewing, Ballast Point, Coronado, Karl Strauss, Rock Bottom-La Jolla, Rock Bottom-Downtown, Firehouse, Backstreet Brewery, Alesmith, Green Flash, Oggi's, Lightning, Stone, La Jolla Brew House, PB Ale House, Pizza Port-Carlsbad, Pizza Port-Solana, Lost Abbey, Oceanside Ale Works, Alpine, Mission Brewery, The Brew House at East Lake.
Thank you to the Allied Members of the San Diego Brewers Guild. The food and beer pairings were excellent. Always a good idea to provide delicious samples, for adult's to consume, while drinking alcohol. A great example of the San Diego Brewers Guild trying to be conscious and responsible while educating about local beer at the same time. On that note, I would also like to thank Culligan Water, who gave us a great deal on the bottled water, which we were then able to give away at the Fest. Food, Water and Beer should be the mantra of any Beer Festival. Thanks again to Liars Club, Downtown Johnny Brown's, Hamilton's Tavern, La Bella Pizza, PB Tap Room, The Linkery, Newport Pizza and Ale House and Taste-Artisan Cheese Shop.
Thank you to the Affiliate Members of the San Diego Brewers Guild. Especially White Labs and Brewers Supply Group. Neva Parker, Secretary of the San Diego Brewers Guild, led a team of Volunteers from White Labs. Marc Warona, Brewers Supply Group, came down from Nor Cal to lend a helping hand.
The last group to thank is a big one, all the San Diego Beer Drinkers. You help support the industry that we are all so passionate about. Supporters like Makeda Dread, Jesse, Christina and Ruben from the World Beat Center. The bands who played for beer, Jaam Quest, The Firkins, The Downstroke, Ballast Point Bagpipe Band and Pau Hana. Rene, who set up the Sound System. Crystal Tay and her team of lighting experts. Carlos at Artic Ice. Charles and his team of Security Guards. Patrick at Westcurve Graphics always takes care of our glasses. Betty at Diamond Toilet's and Fencing love's beer. Erik from San Pasqual Winery and the San Diego Vintner's Association. A big thanks to everyone who bought a ticket. You're helping support the San Diego Brewers Guild, our growing beer community and the World Beat's Music Program. Attendance was up 40% this year. This was our forth Guild Festival. We have now raised over $21,000 total for the World Beat Center.
I often get asked the question, "What make's San Diego such a hot spot for Beer?". Reading the thank you list above, it becomes obvious how strong our "Beer Community" is on every level. I consider myself extremely lucky to be a spoiled member of this great beer community.
Cheers,
Colby Chandler

The original manufacturing facility known as San Diego Brewing Company opened in 1896 with much fanfare. A. E. Horton, the father of San Diego, referred to the Brewery as the most important industrial enterprise since he founded the town. It was the largest manufacturing enterprise in the county.

Ballast Point proudly announces the latest release in our Robust Series.
Sea Monster Imperial Stout is a new version of an old favorite. This hearty stout is black as the abyss and clocks in at a whopping 10% ABV, a real monster.
The flavors of roasted coffee and bittersweet chocolate are complamented by a velvety smoothness from the addition of un-malted barley and oats. Colombus and Amarillo hops help to balance out the huge malt character of this flavor bomb.
Be careful the alcohol is well hidden and will sneak up on you if you don’t watch out. Like most scary monsters, it can be a little intimidating, but have no fear.
This Sea Monster is your friend. O.G. 1.091 F.G. 1.01510% ABV 22oz bottles are available beginning Saturday November 15th at both Ballast Point Brewery locations.
$7.99 each, no limit.
Get ’em before they’re gone.
